Prayer warriors-we need you now!

First, we are all OK! That is the most important!

Due to the fact that my husband works for the airline we planned to fly standby home and purchased our codeshare tickets before leaving the US. We just found out that Lia's visa will not allow her to travel through Japan which is what our tickets are for. However, we are not able to change our tickets here because there is no ticket counter for our airline. Purchasing full fare tickets for four of us at the last minute is going to cost us way more money than we have. We are looking at our options now but are getting little help and many ticket offices are closed because it is Sat. here. Please pray for our frustration level and for some way for us to get home without spending a small fortune. This is all new territory for us so there are so many unknowns.

Thanks in advance!

Almost there

After an amazing evening Tuesday at Brandon's awards assembly(more on that later) we did not sleep at all. We started trying to get everything to fit into the suitcases and got so busy trying to pack and organize all of the paperwork that it was time to go before we knew it. We left the house at 5 am and drove to DFW airport where we flew for 3 hours from DFW to LAX. We then had a 3 hour layover in LAX and flew to Tokyo, Japan. We were able to fly business class so it gave us lots more room, two good meals, movies and wonderful service. The flight time was 10.5 hours. Once we arrived in Japan we tried to get a flight to Beijing, but arrived too late. It was less than an hour before check in and we were not allowed to get on that flight. We tried other airlines, but without success. Consequently, we took a bus to a local hotel, and are staying here tonight. It is 7:40 pm in Japan and 5:40 am at home as I type this and other than a short nap on the plane we haven't slept much. We are definitely ready for a shower and bed. We will go back to the airport in the morning to take the Japan Airlines flight to Beijing. I will send more info later, but for now we are going to get some sleep.

A day full of surprises

After all of our surprises today I am asking all of my prayer warriors to join us in praying for us over the next few days. Our first big surprise came when Nathan opened his passport on the way to the airport this morning to fly to Guatemala only to discover that it expired last week. I completely forgot that the kids passports are only valid for 5 years not 10. So tomorrow he and dad are taking a flight to Houston to renew it and then back to the airport to hopely fly out tomorrow afternoon. There he will meet the friends that fly out today. Talk about a whirlwind day!

My next big surprise came as I collapsed at my desk after a field trip with about 200 5th graders all day. I got a phone call from our adoption agency asking if I was interested in hearing about a possible referral match. Since our homestudy hasn't even been approved yet this was a total shock! I quickly told her yes I was interested! She proceeded to give me the information on a darling little girl. I can't give out any other details at the moment but we will be taking her information to our pediatrician tomorrow to get some more details.

Please be in prayer for us in the next few days as we seek God's direction and long to hear Him speak to us about His plan for our family.
